Under the guise of a pious, religious and always charitable man, a bearded 40-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Fez for raping and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter.
A bearded man in his forties was arrested on Monday in the suburbs of Fez, following a thorough investigation of his case, a week after he was accused of indecent assault on his minor daughter, which caused her pregnancy, Assabah reported today. The man regularly raped his daughter, threatening her with revenge if she reported him to the family. It was his second wife who discovered the horrible misdeed and filed a complaint against him.
The investigating judge at the Fez Court of Appeal heard this morning the accused, known for his practice of witchcraft and nicknamed by some “the fqih”.
The 15-year-old victim was transferred the same day to the emergency room of the Hassan II University Hospital after her health deteriorated. Sources said that the accused was probably preparing to abort his daughter whose mother is his first wife. He allegedly used a stomach illness as a pretext to get her into the hospital, where he took advantage of the situation to get rid of the foetus.
After believing her husband, however, the wife became suspicious of her daughter’s swollen belly and realised the reality, as did the neighbourhood. The accused then confined his wife and the victim. The mother managed to escape to the roof of a nearby house and went to the nearest police station to report the crime.
The security services took the wife’s complaint seriously and moved to the house to arrest the bearded man who was forcing his daughters to wear the veil and preventing them from mixing with others. The victim was always in her father’s shop and rarely left except to go home.
The accused presented an image contrary to the truth of his statement, as he always appeared as a pious person, always good and charitable, until the case was revealed and people came out in the street to protest against the crimes he had committed.
