Transporters’ strike in Morocco

In order to guarantee the proper functioning of the transport service throughout the national territory, the territorial authorities and the security services have taken all the necessary measures and provisions to ensure the mobility of individuals and the transport of goods, while ensuring that any attempt to undermine public security and order, the rights of non-strikers and the functioning of this service is dealt with firmly and rigorously, according to a press release from the Ministry of the Interior.

Following the call for a strike by some professionals in the transport sector from 7 March 2022, the Ministry of the Interior affirms that the right to strike is constitutionally guaranteed, insisting that its exercise must not, however, infringe on the freedom of work and mobility.

It should be recalled that the unions of road transport professionals have begun a national strike which began on Monday and will continue until 9 March, in protest against the rise in fuel prices. “The road transporters will be on strike throughout the kingdom,” announced the sector’s unions, explaining that these protests are being held to denounce “the total neglect by the Executive of the calls for dialogue addressed to it by the sector’s unions, with a view to discussing and resolving the problems caused by the rise in fuel prices.
