In the ninth edition of its report on the impact of terrorism on countries and its various trends, the Institute for Economics and Peace unveiled its “Global Terrorism Index” for the year 2022, which ranks Morocco 76th in terms of countries affected by the terrorist threat, with a score of 1.156.
The Kingdom has thus moved up twenty-six places after being ranked 102nd last year in terms of countries affected by the terrorist threat.
In the North Africa and Middle East region, Morocco is the sixth least affected by terrorism, behind the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Sudan.
The Arab countries most exposed to the activities of terrorist groups are Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and Libya, the report said.
The United Arab Emirates remains the safest country, while Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia form the trio of countries most ravaged by terrorist attacks, followed by Burkina Faso and Syria.
