José Manuel Albares and Pedro Sanchez soon in Morocco

The terms of the message of the Spanish head of the Executive allow to envisage a clear and ambitious roadmap in order to inscribe, durably, the bilateral partnership within the framework of the new bases and parameters, underlined in the Royal Speech of last August 20, says a communiqué of the Moroccan diplomacy.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI had called, in this speech, to “inaugurate an unprecedented stage in the relations between our two countries, based on trust, transparency, mutual consideration and respect of commitments. It is in this spirit that the visit to Rabat, at the end of this month of March and before the month of Ramadan, of the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Mr. José Manuel Albares, is taking place, the same source said.

“A visit to the Kingdom of Morocco by the President of the Spanish Government will also be scheduled later,” the statement concluded. For its part, the Presidency of the Spanish government indicated in a statement that Morocco and Spain are starting “today a new stage of relations” based on mutual respect, the application of agreements, the absence of unilateral actions and transparency and permanent communication. “This new stage will be developed (…) on a clear and ambitious roadmap. All this will be done in order to guarantee the stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity of our two countries,” the Presidency stressed. In this sense, the Spanish government reaffirmed its “determination” to tackle with Morocco “common challenges, especially cooperation in the management of migratory flows in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, always acting in a spirit of full cooperation, and to restore full normality in the movement of people and goods for the benefit of our peoples”.

The Spanish government “welcomes” the scheduling of its president’s visit to Morocco “with a view to drawing up the roadmap for this new stage, as well as the invitation extended to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation to visit Rabat before the end of the month”, the statement concluded.
