The visit of the Spanish Minister to Morocco

The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, announced on Wednesday that he will visit Morocco on 1 April.

The head of Spanish diplomacy, who made the announcement before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies, said he will hold talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

The objective of this visit is to start preparing the “new roadmap” with Morocco, which concerns the strengthening of bilateral relations in all areas, the revitalisation of working groups and the consolidation of cooperation in all fields, he added.

Albares’ visit to Morocco follows Spain’s positive positions and constructive commitments regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, contained in the message addressed to King Mohammed VI by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The terms of this message make it possible to envisage a clear and ambitious roadmap in order to place the bilateral partnership in the framework of the new bases and parameters underlined in the Royal Speech of 20 August, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
