Morocco-Mauritania: towards a prosperous future for the two brotherly peoples

Mounir Laymouri, President of the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Communal Councils (AMPCC), made a working visit to Nouakchott, where he participated in the work of the 27th session of the Executive Committee of UCLG, in the Mauritanian capital.

The agenda of this session included several items, including the study of the budget of the organization and its approval, the study of the mechanism for strengthening the presence of the organization in international and continental forums, as well as the preparation of the participation in the work of the Conference of State Parties – COP 27 to be held in Egypt, as well as the celebration of the city of Rabat, capital of African culture

The president of the AMPCC said that the mayors of Mauritania have expressed their desire to see their country benefit from the vast experience of Morocco in the agricultural sector, while stressing the importance of consolidating Moroccan investment in this promising sector in Mauritania.

The two organizations, the AMPCC and the AMM, agreed to activate the 40 partnership agreements signed between the municipalities of Mauritania and Morocco, in order to strengthen partnerships and local development.

The meeting was an opportunity during which the Prime Minister was informed of the activities of the organization, its work program and its objectives. Mounir Laymouri then presented the Mauritanian Prime Minister with a trophy from AMPCC.

Morocco and Mauritania had previously signed 13 agreements to strengthen relations in various economic sectors, during the 8th session of the Moroccan-Mauritanian
High Joint Commission in Rabat.
