Spain: Moroccans are the first foreign victims of hate crimes

The Moroccan diaspora in Spain seems to be more exposed than any other nationality to hate crimes. Data published by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior are disturbing. A report by the Department of Fernando-Grande-Marlaska placed Moroccans at the top of the list of foreign nationals who have been victims of hate crimes.

In fact, 181 victims were recorded, which makes Moroccans a target for criminals with xenophobic motivations. Thus, the aggressions perpetrated against our compatriots represent 9.66% of the crimes committed against foreigners in Spain.

In the list of victims, Moroccans come first, ahead of Colombians (2.72%), Venezuelans (2.72%) and Senegalese (1.12%).

Roughly, 1,802 hate crimes committed against Spaniards were reported in the Iberian neighbor. Spanish women, the report points out, are still the victims of 65.53% of all crimes and are the main perpetrators, with 75.64% of the crimes recorded.
