Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, proceeded, on Tuesday in Marrakech, to the inauguration of the Olive Grove Park of “Ghabat Chabab”.
On her arrival at the Park of “Ghabat Chabab”, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was welcomed by Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water and Forests. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, wali of the Marrakech- Safi region, Mr. Samir Goudar, president of the Council of the Marrakech- Safi region, and Mr. Mustapha El Habti, acting director general of local authorities and governor of public networks at the Ministry of Interior.
HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was also welcomed by Mrs. Fatima Zahra Mansouri, President of the Communal Council of Marrakech, Mrs. Jamila Afif, President of the Prefectural Council of Marrakech, Mr. Abderrahmane El Ouafa, President of the Commune Méchouar-Kasbah, and by Mr. Ali Zouaki, Director of the State Domains at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
After having inaugurated the Park of the olive grove of “Ghabat Chabab” and unveiled the commemorative plaque, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa followed a presentation on panel of the project of rehabilitation of this Park, by Mrs. Mounia Bennani, landscape architect, as well as a presentation on panel of the equipment in system of irrigation drop by drop, by Mr. Abdelaziz Bousraref, regional director of the Agriculture (DRA) of Marrakech- Safi. Thereafter, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa visited the various facilities of the Park.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa followed a presentation of the pedagogical path by Pr. Aziz Ouhabi, director of the National School of Architecture of Rabat, his students as well as the students of the Eco-Schools labeled “Green Flag”: The stop of the olive grove of Ghabat Chabab, the stop of the biodiversity, the stop of the adaptation of plants to the dry environment and the stop of the Khettaras.
HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa then followed a presentation of the sports facilities of the Park by the landscape architect, as well as another presentation of the mobile application of the Olive Grove Park “Ghabat Chabab” on screen, by Ms. Oumaima Radi, young reporter from Marrakech, winner of the 2021 edition. The Park of the olive grove “Ghabat Chabab” (Forest of Youth), which opened its doors Tuesday to residents and guests of the city of Marrakech, is a real green oasis and a space for relaxation and recreation in the heart of the Ocher City.
Redeveloped as part of the program “Rehabilitation of Gardens and Historical Parks” of the Foundation Mohammed VI for the Protection of the Environment, this space, which extends over an area of 120 ha for the olive grove part, confirms the ecological vocation of Marrakech. It is also intended to be an ideal framework for awareness and popularization of environmental education. To give a facelift to this historic space so emblematic and allow the inhabitants of the Ochre City and its visitors to take advantage of it, it has been proceeding since 2014, the launch of its rehabilitation.
