A round table on the protection and proper management of water in the Grand Casablanca was held in the presence of Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water. The meeting discussed “public policies for the protection of the resource and water efficiency”, and this, in the presence of Mr. Abdellatif Maazouz, President of the Regional Council of Casablanca-Settat, and Mr. Abdel Rahim Al Hafezi, Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, and a group of experts specializing in water.
During his speech, the Minister addressed a number of important points related to the theme discussed, stressing that his department has put in place a set of urgent measures to secure the supply of drinking water, protect the resource, preserve the natural space, reduce the impact of water-related risks and adapt to climate change. He stressed the importance of meticulous management of water demand, its development and its proper management in all daily uses.
In the same vein, the Minister listed some of the structured projects on which the Ministry has worked during the current year, including projects related to “large dams and dams, north-south water transfers, desalination of sea water, conservation of groundwater and reuse of wastewater.
