The prices of olive oil are experiencing these days a significant increase in Morocco. A situation due to the decline in production given the climatic conditions that the Kingdom knows.
According to the explanations of the president of the Federation Interprolive, Rachid Benali, the price of oil should not exceed 80 dh / L, noting that this price can go up to 100 dirhams in some regions. This variation is largely the result of intermediaries.
Benali told us that 70% of the production is done in areas that are highly dependent on rainfall, which has negatively impacted the harvest this year. Currently, five regions share the production of olives in Morocco. 38% in Fez-Meknes, 22% in Marrakech-Safi, 10% in Beni Mellal-Khénifra and 10% between Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and the Oriental.
The president of the Interprolive Federation says that producers are hoping for rain in November so that part of the production can be saved.
