Morocco: How many schools will be built in rural areas?

The Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa delivered this Wednesday a presentation to the House of Councillors in which he details his program for the promotion of national education in the rural environment.


The Minister confided that his department aims to build 400 schools over the next 4 years, an average of 100 schools built per year in the rural world. He also stressed that the projects programmed will be directed mainly towards the creation of secondary schools.


According to official figures provided by Benmoussa, the total number of schools located in the rural world is 6,600, which is 55% of the total number of schools in the whole country. On the other hand, the rural world has about 79,000 classrooms, which represents about 47% of the total number of classrooms in Morocco.


Chakib Benmoussa noted that a specific annual recruitment of teachers will be made to meet the needs of schools and fill the gap in this sense.
