A joint commission visited several restaurants in the city of Chefchaouen, Thursday, January 19, to check whether the conditions of cleanliness and quality of meals served are respected.
According to a source concordant with the Moroccan press, the commission, consisting of representatives of local authorities, the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) and the National Institute of Hygiene, has made several surprise visits to many establishments in the city, frequented by tourists.
These checks have consisted in verifying the state of the premises of restoration, that of the storage of foodstuffs, as well as the cleanliness of areas where they are handled. This, concerning several restaurants whose customers include both residents of the city and local and foreign tourists, said the same source.
The latter also pointed out that the commission did not record any notable infractions, apart from a few remarks and additional advice given to the owners of the restaurants visited.
