Saad Lamjarred case: the details of the verdict

The Court of Assizes of Paris sentenced the Moroccan singer, Saad Lamjarred, on Friday, February 24, to a heavy sentence of 6 years in prison, with immediate detention warrant.

The charges brought by the said Court against the pop star are rape and physical assault, in a room of a Parisian hotel, in October 2016, whose victim was a French woman, Laura P., twenty years old at the time of the facts.

It was after several hours of deliberation that the Paris Assize Court said it was “convinced” of the rape case perpetrated that the plaintiff’s civil party described “in a proven and verified way”. After the verdict and his conviction, Saad Lamjarred still has the possibility to appeal, within ten days of the verdict of the Paris Assize Court.

As a reminder, the singer has always denied the facts that he is accused of, claiming that he did not rape the young woman.
