Morocco-USA: 8% drop in US corn import forecasts

Morocco’s overall import estimate has been revised downward to 2.3 million metric tons, from 2.5 million in the February 8 report, due to lower exports from Argentina, according to the latest USDA report “Grain: World Markets and Trade.”
Argentine and Brazilian corn imports account for 90% of Morocco’s corn
purchases, while the United States is the third largest corn exporter, accounting for 7%, according to the U.S. Grains Council 2023 report.
It should be noted that in Morocco, the poultry and dairy sectors are the main consumers of imported corn, according to the Council’s report. In 2022, Morocco’s corn production is down 4.1 percent from the previous year, according to the USDA.
