The Minister, who was accompanied by the Wali of the region Fez-Meknes, Said Zniber, the Governor of the Prefecture of Meknes, Abdelghani Sebbar, the Commissioner of SIAM, Jaouad Chami, a large delegation of senior officials from the Ministry and representatives of local authorities, toured the various stands, poles, pavilions and spaces of the Exhibition, placed this year under the theme “Generation Green: for a sustainable food sovereignty.
This visit was an opportunity to monitor closely the preparations for the official opening of this mass of national and international agriculture, scheduled for early next week.
In a statement, the Minister stressed that preparations are going well in order to be at the rendezvous, noting that the show should know the participation of nearly 1,400 exhibitors from 68 countries, with a significant international presence, including at the level of Ministers of Agriculture.
The Minister said that this edition of the show will be marked by the holding of a multitude of workshops and conferences on current issues, including food sovereignty and climate change, announcing the signing of 20 contract-programs relating to production chains. “This is part of the implementation of the strategy Generation Green 2020-2030,” he explained.
He added, in this regard, that this international event is characterized by the presentation of the latest developments in the field of research and innovation at the international level, as well as the development of a business space that will facilitate the conclusion of future partnerships in business and trade. He continued that the SIAM includes a stand dedicated to local products, which will see the participation of about 500 carefully selected cooperatives, which will allow exhibitors to market and promote their products, as well as to be aware of developments in the field of agriculture, including cooperatives led by women.
For his part, the Commissioner of SIAM, Jaouad Chami, said that the 15th edition of SIAM offers a rich and varied program, stressing that in the livestock pole, nearly 2,000 species of animals will be exhibited.
The 15th edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture in Morocco (SIAM) will have as guest of honor the United Kingdom. This choice reflects, according to the organizers, “the excellence of the long-standing relationship between Rabat and London” and will offer participants “a great opportunity to discover and explore the richness and diversity of British agriculture.
