The peaceful El Âbakra douar, part of the Boulaouane rural commune in the province of El Jadida, woke up to a despicable crime on Thursday June 15. A 44-year-old man ended his father’s life by hitting him over the head with an iron bar. He then attempted to cut up the body using a sickle. The victim, a father in his sixties and a retired teacher, had hardly entered his house when his son gave him a violent blow with an iron bar. He let out a shrill scream, lost consciousness and soon gave up the ghost. His son then tried to cut off his upper and lower limbs with a sickle. But the neighbors intervened in time to prevent him from committing more horrible criminal acts.
Alerted, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Khmis Mtouh rushed to the scene of the crime to start a judicial investigation. The victim’s body was immediately evacuated to the morgue of the Mohammed V regional hospital in El Jadida for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators then carried out a combing operation, which resulted in the arrest of the culprit a few hours later. Brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the El Jadida Court of Appeal on Sunday June 18, the suspect was said by a judicial source to be suffering from serious mental disorders.
