Two suspects, including an authority figure, the Khalifa of a Caïd in the province of Al Haouz, were arrested by members of the Asni gendarmerie for their involvement in a case of kidnapping, rape and theft, and were brought before the public prosecutor’s office at the Marrakech Court of Appeal on Monday June 19. The complainant is a young girl living in the rural commune of Moulay Brahim in the province of Al Haouz, on the R303 road between Marrakech and Taroudant, 5 km north of Asni. In her complaint, she stated that she had been hijacked by a young man who raped her before taking her cell phone. As she fled, she came across members of the Auxiliary Forces, to whom she told her story. They immediately handed her over to the Khalifa of the Caïd who, instead of handing her over to the gendarmes, raped her.
