Trade between Morocco and Israel more than doubles in five months

According to the latest newsletter from the American think-tank The Abraham Accords Peace Institute (AAPI), which referred to data from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, trade between Morocco and Israel totaled $33.4 million in the first five months of the year, an increase of 110% on the same period last year (January-May 2022).

According to data from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, trade between the two partners in May alone reached $4.6 million, an increase of 4.55% on May 2022.

Despite the promising trade between Israel and its partners, AAPI’s deputy director expressed dissatisfaction with the trade figures, which he said were “well below what they could or should be”, the institute reports.

In this vein, he said, “the trade opportunities of the Abraham agreements have not reached their full potential. In fact, they have only scratched the surface”.

As a reminder, Morocco and Israel achieved a record trade volume of $55.7 million last year. In 2022, trade between the two countries is expected to increase by 32% compared with 2021.
