Security operations carried out in connection with this case led to the seizure of an initial shipment of drugs on board a commercial vehicle on the freeway linking the towns of Bouznika and Mohammedia, weighing a total of 4 tons and 168 kg, before the driver of the vehicle and his companion were arrested at the entrance to the town of Ksar Sghir, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) said in a press release.
Searches also enabled the identification of extensions of this criminal network in Douar “El Mharza” on the outskirts of “Bir Jdid”, emphasizes the same source, noting that four suspects were arrested and additional shipments of drugs were seized, weighing 7 tons and 400 kg, as well as two inflatable boats, 3 marine engines, 107 plastic containers filled with fuel, 5 vehicles and 11 air pumps.
The suspects were taken into custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the criminal acts of which they are accused, as well as the possible ramifications of this criminal activity at national and international level.
This security operation is part of the joint actions carried out by the Sûreté Nationale and DGST services to combat international drug and psychotropic drug trafficking networks, the press release concludes.
