Morocco interested in Belarusian carmaker MAZ

The Minsk automotive plant (MAZ brand) was visited this week by Moroccan businessmen led by Mohammed Amine Cherkaoui, Chairman of the Board of Water & Energy Solutions and MDSC Holding.

“The visitors familiarized themselves with the main assembly line, and saw the process of assembling MAZ machines from the installation of the chassis to the vehicle coming off the line. They were also shown a range of cargo and passenger vehicle models”, said the same source.

During his meeting with MAZ Managing Director Valery Ivankovitch, Mohammed Amine Cherkaoui praised the level of production of the Belarusian machines, noting that they possessed important qualities for use in African countries: simplicity of design and ease of maintenance. He expressed his deep interest not only in supplying the Moroccan market with these products, but also in setting up a MAZ machine assembly plant in Morocco.

Valery Ivankovitch, in turn, confirmed the plant’s willingness to implement future joint projects. The Minsk Automobile Plant is one of the largest mechanical engineering companies in Belarus. It specializes in the manufacture of heavy trucks, special vehicles, buses, trolleybuses and towed units. MAZ vehicles comply with Euro3, 4, 5 and 6 environmental standards.
