Marrakech International Film Festival: 20th edition jury announced

On Friday, the Marrakech International Film Festival unveiled the jury line-up for its 20th edition, scheduled to run from November 24 to December 2, 2023.


Nine exceptional, world-renowned personalities make up the jury for this 20th edition, presided over by Oscar-winning American actress and producer Jessica Chastain, according to a press release from the Festival Foundation, who will be joined by Iranian actress Zar Amir, French actress Camille Cottin, Australian actor and director Joel Edgerton, British director Joanna Hogg, American director Dee Rees, Swedish-Egyptian director Tarek Saleh, Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård and French-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani.

“Together, they will draw on their singularity and expertise to decide between the 14 films in official competition,” adds the press release, noting that the jury for this 20th edition, representing 8 countries and 5 different continents, reflects the Marrakech International Film Festival, an event that celebrates the diversity of global cinematic creation.

The jury will announce its awards at the Festival’s closing ceremony, scheduled for Saturday December 2, 2023.

It will award the Étoile d’or to one of the 14 first and second features in the competition, dedicated to the discovery of filmmakers from around the world.
