Maritime connectivity: Italy wants to create the La Spezia-Casablanca logistics corridor

Federica Montaresi, General Secretary of the Port Authority of Eastern Liguria, took part in the conference “Digital transformation, innovation and cooperation: what are the challenges and opportunities for Mediterranean ports?”, in cooperation with the Med Ports Association, currently made up of twenty port authorities in the Mediterranean region.

The General Secretary also took the opportunity to present the European FENIX project, aimed at creating an international logistics corridor between the two ports of call, La Spezia and Casablanca. The pilot project has already enabled the testing of innovative tools linked to the digitized logistics corridor, which enables data exchange between AdSP systems and the Casablanca port system, Portnet.

In particular, thanks to the use of IoT (Internet of Things) technology, it has been possible to exchange certain data relating to the e-seal and the Import Manifest as soon as the ship leaves La Spezia. This data is immediately visible to all those involved in the international logistics corridor between Italy and Morocco.
