Elements of the Nador prefectural security district have succeeded, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the Direction générale de la surveillance du territoire national (DGST), in arresting two individuals aged 31 and 48 for their alleged involvement in a case of possession and trafficking of 16.65 kg of cocaine and possession of a firearm.
According to a security source, the two defendants were apprehended during simultaneous operations carried out in Nador and the locality of Farkhana, for their alleged involvement in the acquisition of cocaine and its distribution at local level, says a press release from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), adding that the searches carried out led to the seizure of 16 plates weighing a total of 16 kg and 650 g of cocaine.
In addition to the narcotics, the searches led to the seizure of a shotgun, a batch of cartridges, edged weapons, a tear gas canister, as well as six cars bearing national and foreign license plates and a sum of money suspected of being the booty of these criminal activities, adds the same source. The suspects were subjected to the judicial investigation procedures carried out by the Nador Judicial Police Brigade, under the aegis of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to determining all the possible ramifications of this network and arresting the alleged accomplices in this criminal activity.
