Coronavirus: A Suspicious Case in a City in Morocco

A hospital in Chefchaoun received last weekend a Chinese national suspected of the Coronavirus that killed 80 people in China. A source on Le Site info reported that the young woman suffering from the flu went to the hospital to undergo the necessary tests.

The national, who resides in a city 860 kilometers from Wuhan, the center of the outbreak, is not showing signs of the virus. She finally left the hospital after undergoing tests and receiving the necessary care.

It should be recalled that Morocco has instituted health control at international ports and airports, in order to detect early any possible imported case and to stop the spread of the Corona virus, if necessary, said Saturday the Ministry of Health.

“Given the latest developments in the global disease situation, marked by the confirmation of the new virus in other countries, particularly in Europe, Morocco has established health control at international ports and airports, in order to detect early any possible imported case and stop the spread of the virus, if necessary,” the department said in a statement.

The ministry says it continues to consider that “the risk of spreading the virus on the national territory is low and confirms, once again, that no suspected or confirmed cases have been recorded to date”.

It reassures the public that the national system for epidemiological surveillance and monitoring has been strengthened and that the system for virological diagnosis and management of potential patients is operational.
