Franco-Moroccan Adil Rami Makes a Comeback in Sochi

Adil Rami will not be without a club for long: the 2018 world champion, who canceled his contract with the Turkish club Fenerbahçe on Friday, will discover the Russian Championship in Sochi.

Sochi FC, the Russian championship’s bottom club, did not specify in its statement published on Saturday the duration of the contract signed by the central defender, but according to the specialist press, Rami, 34, has committed himself until the end of the season.

Rami was sacked for serious offenses by Marseille last August, his club since 2017, for, among other things, taking part in a television program without his club’s agreement.

He had joined Fenerbahce shortly afterwards, signing a one-year contract with an option for an extra season. However, he never made it to the Bosphorus, taking part in only seven matches, six of them in the Turkish Cup.

Rami, who has 36 appearances in the French national team, made his professional debut for Lille in 2006. He then went on to play for Spain (Valencia, Sevilla) and Italy (AC Milan).
