Coronavirus: Koranic Schools Close their Doors in Morocco

As part of the preventive measures to combat the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs announces the suspension, as from Monday, March 16, 2020, and until further notice, of courses in educational institutions under the supervision of Al-Quaraouiyine University and in institutes of traditional education and Koranic schools, as well as illiteracy courses in mosques and in traditional primary education areas, whether public or private.

The Ministry is currently studying the provisions that will be adopted to replace these courses, according to a statement by the department.
