Coronavirus: King Mohammed VI Gives High Instructions to the Government

“His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has given his high instructions to the government to proceed with the immediate creation of a special fund dedicated to the management of the Coronavirus outbreak.

This fund, equipped with 10 billion Dirhams, will be dedicated to cover the expenses of upgrading the medical system, in terms of adapted infrastructures and additional means to be acquired, in the emergency.

It will also be used to support the national economy, through a battery of measures to be proposed by the government, particularly in terms of support for sectors vulnerable to shocks induced by the Coronavirus crisis, such as tourism, as well as job preservation and mitigation of the social impact of this crisis.

Eleven new confirmed cases of contamination with the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) have been recorded in Morocco bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 28, the Health Ministry announced on Sunday.

At the end of the press conference held Saturday, a new case of contamination with Covid-19 was confirmed, said a press release from the Ministry of Health, adding that during the night of Saturday to Sunday 10 other cases were recorded, bringing to 28 the total number of confirmed cases in Morocco. These include six cases from Spain, two cases from France, two from Italy and one last case from Austria, the same source said. The eleven cases were diagnosed by specialized medical teams following the procedures in force for carrying out analyses at the National Center for Influenza and Respiratory Viruses, part of the National Institute of Hygiene in Rabat, and at the Pasteur-Morocco Institute in Casablanca, the ministry said, noting that they were treated in accordance with the health measures that are currently applied.

The Ministry indicates that the health status of the 11 confirmed cases is stable and does not raise any concerns.
