The French blocked in Morocco after the Kingdom’s decision to suspend all its international links have been able to return to their country.
On this occasion, the French ambassador to Morocco, Hélène Le Gal, posted a message on her Twitter account. “Thank you to the staff of Moroccan airports,” the ambassador wrote.
Hundreds of passengers were stuck at Marrakech-Menara airport on 14 March. Videos posted on social networks show the seriousness of the situation.
Flights were finally allowed “to allow French nationals to return home,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced. “I spoke several times with my counterpart Nasser Bourita yesterday and this morning to facilitate the return of our compatriots from Morocco,” he wrote on Twitter.
In addition, the Moroccan authorities have indicated that air and sea connections will be re-established once this global health crisis is over.
