Amazazi: A Biologist and Government Spokesman

Said Amzazi is one of the best-known ministers in the media. He is one of those who are in the spotlight because he is in charge of one of the most sensitive sectors, namely the national education system. His name has been strongly present in the many crises his ministry has gone through, but he has managed to handle them wisely. Recently, His Majesty King Mohammed VI appointed him as Government Spokesman, replacing his colleague Mr Hassan Abyaba.

Mr Amzazi, who is affiliated to the Popular Movement Party, was born into a famous family in Sefrou in 1965. He continued his studies at the Qadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, where he obtained a doctorate in biology, before going to France to further his studies in the field of forensic medicine. He graduated from Purdue University in 1998, before obtaining a State Doctorate in Immunology and Virology from Mohamed V University.

Before being appointed Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research in 2018, Amzazi held many important positions, such as President of the Mohammed V University in Rabat, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences in Rabat, Head of the PhD Excellence Commission, Chairman of the Pedagogical and Continuing Education Committee, among other positions related to the education and scientific research sector he has always been concerned about.
