Tangier: 78-Year-Old German Woman Leaves the Hospital after Being Cured from the Coronavirus

The 7th case of recovery from the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) at the level of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, left Thursday evening the Mohammed VI Hospital in Tangier, after being subjected to the treatment protocol.

According to the director of the Mohammed VI Hospital in Tangier, Dr. Mounir Marrakchi, it is a German woman residing in Morocco, aged 78, who was treated according to the protocol adopted by the Ministry of Health, mainly based on chloroquine. The patient responded well to the treatment and suffered no side effects, he said.

The patient was declared cured following two negative laboratory tests 48 hours apart, Dr Marrakchi said, noting that she went to Mohammed V Hospital in Tangier in pain, where she was treated and then tested positive for Coronavirus.

Furthermore, he explained that Mohammed VI Hospital takes care of critical cases requiring intensive care and resuscitation, but stated that many patients responded well to treatment and were transferred, after their health improved, to other hospitals in Tangier specializing in the management of cases of contamination with the new Coronavirus.

For her part, the nurse in charge of the intensive care unit, Safae Haboussi, said that the patient, who was in intensive care for several days, was completely cured following two negative tests performed in the laboratory, believing that the cure of Covid-19 cases encourages hospital staff to make more efforts to control the virus.

According to official data, the number of cured cases of Coronavirus in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region has reached 10, including 7 in the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah, 2 in Tetouan and 1 in Larache.

The total number of people infected with Coronavirus in the region has reached, until Thursday at 18H00, 115 cases after the results of laboratory tests were positive.
