Royal Family Celebrated a Beautiful Event on Saturday

On Saturday, the Moroccan people joined the royal family to celebrate the 50th birthday of Prince Moulay Rachid, a happy event that offered an opportunity for all Moroccans to express their warm congratulations and sincere wishes of happiness and a long life to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid and the entire royal family.

As usual, this great moment of joy was also an opportunity to review the main official activities of Prince Moulay Rachid at the national and international levels.

Prince Moulay Rachid was born on 20 June 1970 in Rabat. In May 1993, he obtained a degree in Public Law (Internal Administration option) and a diploma in Comparative Law from the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Rabat. Three years later, in June 1996, Prince Moulay Rachid passed the second certificate of higher studies (International Relations Department).

Moulay Rachid publicly presented his PhD thesis on “The Organization of the Islamic Conference: Study of a specific international organization” at the University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV on May 18, 2001. Moulay Rachid was highly praised by the jury and received a special acknowledgement for the publication of his thesis, considering the relevance of the subject and the quality of the work.

Prince Moulay Rachid has been interested in cultural, social and sports activities from a young age. Thus, since 1997, the Prince has presided over the destiny of the Moroccan National Scout Federation, to which he has undoubtedly given a new dynamic. In the same spirit and with the same commitment, Moulay Rachid presides over the Royal Moroccan Federation of Hunting Gun Shooting (FRMTAC), the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association. Since January 2018, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid has been President of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG).

Furthermore, the Prince has been involved in various projects. He has participated in various Royal activities and presided over many official activities, as well as major events both in Morocco and abroad. Moulay Rachid also represents the King in important national and international events, to promote Morocco’s influence on the local and international scenes.

Accordingly, the Prince has undertaken very important events and activities during the last 12 months. Moulay Rachid represented King Mohammed VI at the funeral of Tunisian President Béji Caïd Essebsi on 27 July 2019, which took place at Carthage Palace in Tunis. On this occasion, the Prince offered condolences to the acting Tunisian President, Mohammed Ennaceur, the Head of Government, Youssef Chahed and members of the family of the late Béji Caïd Essebsi.

On July 30, Prince Moulay Rachid hosted a special luncheon at the Royal Golf Club in Tangier, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.

On the 19th of August of the same year, the Prince presided over the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the African Games at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat. On this occasion, the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) awarded the decoration of the African Olympic Order as a gesture of appreciation for the efforts of King Mohammed VI for the promotion of sport. A distinction that was presented to Prince Moulay Rachid.

On 23 September, Prince Moulay Rachid received, at the Palais des Hôtes in Rabat, the Crown Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Prince William, and his wife the Crown Grand Duchess Princess Stéphanie de Lannoy, who were on a visit to Morocco at the head of a high-level economic mission.

On 14 October, the Prince presided over the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show, which was held until 20 October under the theme: “The horse in Moroccan ecosystems”.

On 22 October, Prince Moulay Rachid represented King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of the new Emperor of Japan, Naruhito, which took place at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

On the same day at the Imperial Palace, the prince was invited to a dinner hosted by the new Emperor of Japan Naruhito. In the “Take-no-ma” audience room of the Imperial Palace, Prince Moulay Rachid was greeted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

The next day, Prince Moulay Rachid took part in a tea reception at the Akasaka Imperial Residence in Tokyo, hosted by the new Emperor of Japan Naruhito in honor of the Monarchs and members of the royal families who attended the ceremony of his enthronement.

On 24 October, Prince Moulay Rachid had a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On 18 November of the same year, Moulay Rachid presided over the final of the Football Throne Cup (2018-2019) between Tihad Athletic Sportif (TAS) and Hassania d’Agadir (HUSA) at the stadium of honor in Oujda.

On 13 January 2020, Prince Moulay Rachid represented King Mohammed VI in Muscat to express his condolences following the death of the Sultan Qaboos ben Said Ben Taimur.
