Donald Trump Sends a Personal Letter to His Majesty King Mohammed VI

The President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, expressed his respect for Morocco’s achievements under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI. At the same time, he reaffirmed his support for a sovereign and for the stability of Morocco.

The US President, who in a personal letter to the King on the occasion of Throne Day, said he was looking forward to working with the King “as a leader in Africa and the Arab world to accelerate the development of the African continent and promote authentic peace in the Middle East”.

“During Your Majesty’s reign, Morocco and the United States have deepened their long-standing and valuable alliance in all areas of cooperation,” Trump said. He added that the two countries have “signed a free trade agreement, fought side by side against the scourge of violent extremism, and expanded opportunities for greater cultural understanding between the two peoples”.

“The longstanding partnership between the United States and Morocco is deeply grounded in our mutual values and our commitment to a sovereign and stable Morocco,” he said. He also praised Morocco’s accomplishments under the leader of the sovereign, especially in the areas of human development, political reform and social progress.

“As you approach the third decade of your reign, I am eager to work with you as a leader in Africa and the Arab world to accelerate the development of the African continent and promote authentic peace in the Middle East,” he added.

President Trump also seized the opportunity to convey his congratulations to King Mohammed VI on the 21st anniversary of his accession to the Throne, wishing him and the Moroccan people a memorable national holiday.
