Side Effects after the Recovery from Coronavirus

Recovering from Coronavirus does not mean a full return to health. Several scientific studies undertaken by American and European universities have affirmed that the impact of the virus remains in the body even after healing and can last for months.

These side effects, as mentioned by specialists, can last for more than 3 months and include breathing difficulties due to the affected lungs, joint pain, constant fatigue, obstruction of the arteries causing thrombosis, not to mention the side effects of the virus on the nervous system.

In addition to the lungs, the virus attacks several other organs including the pancreas, liver, brain and kidneys. Specialists did not expect so many side effects when the virus was first discovered; they believed that the lungs were the only organs affected.

Coronavirus patients suffer from disorders which cause thrombosis, leading to cardiac arrest and violent infections, as well as damage on the nervous system which leads to headaches, dizziness, loss of sense of smell and taste, seizures and confusion. All these effects affect the quality of life of the cured patient.

According to specialists, Coronavirus patients need long-term rehabilitation to resume normal activities, while those who have gone through intensive care for their recovery will need to use artificial respiration for weeks afterwards. The older the patient is, the harder it is for them to return to life with all their functional abilities.

Indeed, even patients who didn’t need access to a hospital have suffered for a long time from the consequences of the disease, such as continued exhaustion, breathing difficulties, coughing and feelings of weariness. These are all symptoms that can follow for weeks and can last for a long time.

Studies have shown that half of Coronavirus patients suffered from repercussions such as dizziness, loss of consciousness, difficulty concentrating, disturbances of the senses of smell and taste, muscle spasms and abnormalities, thrombosis and muscle aches, while many of those cured suffered from eye and toe aches and decreased immune system function.
