Mustapha Naji: A Dramatic Increase in Covid-19 Cases to Be Expected in Morocco in the Coming Days

Mustapha Naji stated that considering the lack of compliance with preventive health measures, Morocco is expected to register a worrying increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 in the coming days.

Mustapha Naji, a virologist and director of the virology laboratory at Hassan II University in Casablanca, told Le Site info that the record of 2234 cases recorded on Sunday comes as no surprise, especially after the celebration of Aid Al Adha, Ashoura and the return from vacation.

Mustapha Naji also pointed out that Morocco may face a third wave of Covid-19 if citizens do not respect preventive measures. In particular, the wearing of masks and physical distancing.

It should be noted that a total of 2,234 new cases of Coronavirus infection and 1,345 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, announced Sunday the Ministry of Health. This new report brings the number of infections in the Kingdom to 72,394 since the first case reported on March 2. In addition to this, 55,274 people have fully recovered from the disease, representing a cure rate of 76.4%, the ministry said in its daily report.

The number of deaths rose to 1,361 with 32 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the same source.
