Ait Taleb Reveals the Strategy of Coronavirus Vaccination, Priority Categories, and Period of Operation

The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, stated again on Monday in Rabat, that the vaccination operation against Covid-19 will include citizens over 18 years of age, under a protocol of vaccination in two doses.

Mr. Ait Taleb said in response to a question at the weekly oral questions meeting in the House of Representatives that “this operation will cover all citizens over 18 years of age. This will be done through a two-dose vaccination protocol. The priority will be given to front-line staff, including health personnel, public authorities, national security forces, national education personnel, the elderly and the vulnerable. Then the operation will include the rest of the citizens, explaining that “the aim is to protect public health, the elderly and the vulnerable and to ease the social and economic impact of the virus through a vaccination coverage rate of 80%”.

Mr. Ait Taleb explained that in general, “We are a few weeks away from the start of the vaccination operation. A purchasing operation has also been launched, in order to deliver the necessary resources to the regions and prefectures prior to the operation, while preparing the training of the teams in the field”. He also indicated that “at the territorial level, 2888 vaccination stations are being set up, with lists of vaccination teams, while waiting for the rest of the resources”.

The minister also noted that thanks to the initiative and personal commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom has been ranked first among the countries that will receive the vaccine (Covid-19). He added that the safety and efficacy of this vaccine is confirmed by the positive indications and clinical trials that have been conducted on several volunteers, both in Morocco and elsewhere.

He concluded that, for its part, the Ministry ensures the provision of medicines and medical necessities in health institutions, including the purchase of the treatment protocol drugs, individual prevention tools such as masks, goggles and other equipment to protect health sector professionals.
