Citrus: Exports rise by 40% during the 2021-2022 season

This performance has affected all families of citrus exports, said the Ministry, specifying that the volume of exports of small fruits has reached 629,300 tons during this season (from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022), up 40% compared to the previous campaign, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forestry. 

Exports of oranges have increased by 42% compared to the season 2020-2021. This growth has affected all destinations, with a particularly notable increase in the U.S. market (x3) and the African market (x2.2). 

Note that the national production of citrus all species combined during this campaign (2021-2022) reached 2.67 million tons, an increase of 14% compared to the previous campaign (2020-2021). 

The production of citrus is concentrated up to 85% in four regions namely Rabat-Salé-Kenitra with 700,000 tons, Souss-Massa (672,000 tons), Oriental (460,000 tons) and Beni Mellal-Khénifra (436,000 tons).
