Imam Hassan Iquioussen has been placed under electronic surveillance

Imam Iquioussen is out of prison, the preacher has left the Tournai (Belgium) prison and has been placed under electronic surveillance, French media report.

The release of the Moroccan imam was authorized by the Court of Appeal of Mons, and this, following the request of an investigating judge, the same sources said. This same court had considered, Thursday, October 27, that this regime would be sufficient to prevent any risk of flight of the Moroccan preacher, listed S in France by the DGSI. The imam has been placed under house arrest at the home of one of his friends.

The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin had decreed his expulsion from the territory, but the imam had finally fled to Belgium. After arresting him and detaining him, Belgian justice refused to extradite him to France at the end of October.

French media reports indicate that Belgium’s request to hand over Imam Hassan Iquioussen to the French authorities will be re-examined on appeal this Thursday, November 10, in a closed hearing.
