“53 people of different nationalities were in the boat,” Babacar Ndiaye, a member of the NGO Alarm Phone, a collective that has set up an emergency telephone line for people in distress crossing the Mediterranean, told EFE.
The same source said that the migrants were trying to reach the Canary Islands on board the boat, but it sank off Tan-Tan, and only three people survived.
The activist also said that the Moroccan authorities have indicated that the lifeless bodies of the possible crew members have been found, but have not yet been identified because they are without papers.
