Ramadan: cafe owners do not hide their disappointment

Owners of cafes and restaurants in Morocco complain about the almost zero attendance of customers in their establishments during this holy month of Ramadan, compared to last year.

In this regard, the president of the Association of Owners of cafes and restaurants of Morocco (ANPCRM) said that this year is “exceptional” because the shortfall is obvious.

In a statement to the Moroccan press, Noureddine Harrak confirmed that the revenues of cafes and restaurants have shrunk like a stone at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, in all cities of the Kingdom.

Our interlocutor also deplored that the successive waves of price increases have forced citizens to prefer to stay at home, instead of attending cafes and restaurants, as usual during the evenings of the holy month of Ramadan.

Noureddine Harrak also said that the owners of cafes and restaurants used to take advantage of the month of fasting to renovate their establishments, but there is no longer any question for them, this year, given the costs that this would cause for them.
