The seventh edition of Casablanca Smart City was inaugurated on Wednesday June 7 at the Hayat Regency conference hall in Casablanca, in the presence of some 100 participants, experts and regional and national officials. The aim of the inauguration was to assess the measures already adopted and put others in place to ensure the lasting effectiveness of this ambitious project.
“Smart cities are a catalyst for sustainable development. By integrating artificial intelligence into their program, the Kingdom’s cities can easily improve the services offered to citizens, thus reducing inequalities in accessibility to information”, explains Aawatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, noting that “taking the course of artificial intelligence is not new, but dates back to 2013 when a battery of measures, under the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was put in place for a long-term vision”.
The vision gained greater clarity with the New Development Model (NMD) and these recommendations for investment in human development, which include new digital methods and solutions. As far as
his department is concerned, Aawatif Hayar points out that “with a view to putting digital at the service of social issues, his ministry’s Al Jisr (Bridge) program has achieved a respectable track record, with 80,000 beneficiaries to date”.
