Garbage Collection: The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region Launches an Innovative Project

The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region is about to launch a leading project to organize a garbage collection and recycling system in urban areas, says Les Inspirations Eco in its publication of Tuesday, January 7. The newspaper states that the aim of this initiative is to test a new system of waste sorting for recovery in a context of increasing urbanization of Moroccan cities.

It should be noted that, on the financial level, the budget has been obtained following the participation of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in the call for projects “Africa sustainable cities”, for the year 2019. The daily points out that the project will take 18 months and will be launched in February 2020. This initiative comes in response to the implementation of the commitments made by France through the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

According to Les Inspirations Eco, the project for a garbage collection and recovery sector in urban areas has two major objectives, namely development through support for the circular economy and preservation of the environment through sustainable alternatives to burial techniques and uncontrolled landfills. Not forgetting the reduction of industrial consumption of raw materials through recycling processes.
