Saad Lamjarred: what Laura Prioul’s Defense Said After the Court Verdict

The defense of Laura Prioul, the young woman who accused Saad Lamjarred of rape, said she was satisfied with the verdict of the court.

The Investigation Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal decided Tuesday to refer Saad Lamjarred to the Assize Court for the alleged rape of Prioul, now 23 years old, in a Parisian hotel in October 2016.

In a statement to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the young woman’s defense said: “We are satisfied with the court’s decision. The Chamber of Investigation has made a rigorous reading and analysis of the facts. Rape is a crime, it is the Assize Court that has jurisdiction,” she said.

It should be recalled that the appeal court reversed the order issued last April by the investigating judge, who had reclassified the facts as sexual assault and violence, referring the artist back to the criminal court. His accuser, who had appealed, has therefore just won her case.
