The businessman Fadel Sekkat, president of the steel company “Maghreb Steel”, died on Saturday in a hospital in Casablanca from Coronavirus, at the age of 75 years, we learn from a family member.
The deceased was highly respected in the industrial and business world, but he distinguished himself above all by his many actions of patronage and philanthropy, via the Sekkat Foundation. In recent years, he devoted himself to keeping alive the national steel company, which was facing stiff foreign competition. He was the company’s executive chairman.
“Today we have lost a great man and an iconic figure of Moroccan industry,” reacted the president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj.
Fadel Sekkat was an exceptional businessman known for his wisdom and generosity. Our Confederation is in deep grief and our private sector is losing one of its deans”.
