Morocco: Will Masks Remain Mandatory after the Deconfinition?

With great impatience and immense hope, Moroccans are waiting for the 10th of this month, which will certainly mark the end of the prolonged confinement, as decided by the competent authorities.

However, what about the availability of protective masks and hydro-alcoholic products? To find out more on this issue, La press marocaine has gathered the opinion of a professional in the pharmaceutical sector, Mohamed Lahbabi.

The president of the Confederation of Pharmacists’ Unions of Morocco (GSPM) has confirmed the interest of Moroccans in protective masks. He stressed that citizens are keen to purchase masks of good and proven quality.

“Hydroalcoholic products are also on the rise and are very popular with pharmacy customers. And for the moment, Moroccans do not hesitate to buy them, regardless of brand and price, in order to protect themselves against Covid-19,” said Mohamed Lahbabi.

The question that arises, after the start of the long-awaited deconfinement, is whether the competent authorities will decide that the wearing of masks and the respect of barrier gestures will remain unchanged. Some do not hesitate to hope that these preventive measures will be maintained, as long as the risk of transmission of the virus is still not totally stopped.
