Covid-19/Morocco: Five Regions Record More than 5,000 New Cases of Infection

This Saturday, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 5,836 new infections with the new Coronavirus (Covid-19), 4,602 recoveries and 70 deaths.

In its daily report of the epidemiological surveillance of Covid-19 in Morocco, the ministry said that the new results have brought the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 252,185 cases since the announcement of the first case on March 2.

As for the number of complete recoveries, the ministry said the cases have reached 205,556. With a cure rate of 81.5 percent, the number of deaths has increased to 4,197, bringing the mortality rate to 1.7 percent.

The cases of infection recorded in the last 24 hours are distributed across the regions of the Kingdom as follows: Casablanca-Settat (2409), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1060), East (686), Sub-Massa (501), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (381) and Marrakech-Safi (289).

Moreover, 176 cases were recorded in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, 103 cases with the Tafilalet shield, 93 confirmed cases in the Fez-Meknes region, 66 cases in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, 45 in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, and 27 in the Dakhla and Wadi-Dahab region.

In terms of the number of deaths reported, the Ministrymstates that 21 cases were recorded in the Casablanca-Settat region, 11 in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and East regions, one case each in Souss Massa, Guelmim, Oued Noun, Laayoune, Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla, and Oued Eddahab, 10 cases in the Tangier-Tetouan- Al Hoceima region, 3 cases in the Marrakech-Safi region, 6 cases in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region and 2 cases in the region of Draa-Tafilalet and Fez-Meknes.

According to the report card, the cumulative incidence index in Morocco is about 694.4 infections per hundred thousand people. Moreover, the infection index is 16.1 per hundred thousand people in the last 24 hours, with the exception of 14 thousand and 157 cases of infection by the disease. This brings the total number of excluded cases to three million, 219,000 and 259, while the total number of active cases currently receiving treatment is 42,432 cases.

There are 203 new serious or critical cases currently present in the resuscitation and intensive care units recorded in the last 24 hours. The total number of such cases is 935, of which 67 are under artificial ventilation, while the total number of cases under non-intensive ventilation treatment is 505 cases.
