Corona Drives the Tourism and Festival Sectors into Crisis

As part of the preventive measures taken by Morocco to deal with the Coronavirus, many clients have canceled seminars and festivals scheduled for March and the coming months, causing a serious crisis for a number of communication and event companies.

These companies have suffered significant losses due to the cancellation or postponement of events that usually bring together participants from all over the world. The Crans Montana in Dakhla, the Caftan, the Motor Show, the Meknes International Agricultural Show, the Aïcha des Gazelles Rally, etc., are all events of this kind.

In cities such as Marrakech or Casablanca, hotels are also suffering from the same crisis due to the cancellation of conferences they were supposed to host and the suppression of reservations, especially those relating to foreigners, since the Ministry of the Interior has banned all activities involving people from abroad, including seminars, forums and cultural and sporting events, just as it has banned all types of gatherings in closed rooms, with more than 1,000 people.

It should be noted that Morocco has recorded 3 cases of Coronavirus infection since last week; 2 in Casablanca and 1 in Marrakech. A 4th case is suspected. It will be announced soon in case of confirmation. Morocco has also recorded the death of the first Corona victim. This is the elderly woman who came to Morocco from Italy.
