Asmaa Lamnawar Expresses her Support to the African American Community

The Moroccan artist Asmaa Lamnawar expressed her solidarity with the African-American community, following the protests in the United States against the murder of George Floyd, the black American citizen, who died during a brutal police arrest.

Asmaa Lamnawar published a photo of herself in black skin, wearing a Moroccan caftan, and with black hands and hearts attached, without any comment, as a sign of solidarity with the black American community.

This is not the first time that Asmaa Lamnawar has expressed strong positions on humanitarian issues that occupy national and international public opinion. Indeed, she has previously given her material and moral support, notably by granting the profits from her song “Hayna”, launched alongside Hatem Ammor, to an association of children suffering from cancer.

Asmaa Lamnawar is expected to launch a new album after the end of the state of health emergency, produced in collaboration with a number of Moroccan artists with whom she has already had a successful experience. These include the young artist Mahdi Mazine, who composed “Andou azzine”, a song which has been a big hit in Morocco and the Arab world.

Asmaa Lamnawar is known for her numerous songs that have allowed her to become well known in the Arab world, such as “Derti Lia Tayyara”, “Ando azzine”, or her duets with leading figures in Arab song such as Kadhem Saher or the Yemeni Abou Bakr Salem.
